This weekend, I indulged in a Telugu movie titled ‘Devil,’ set in the pre-independence era. It unfolded as a murder mystery but unveiled an intriguing twist as the story progressed. Merely minutes in, I was convinced that the hero was not all he appeared to be. My suspicion stemmed from the understanding that Telugu heroes seldom embody the anti-hero archetype, a portrayal I, like many, would find less appealing.
Each actor delivered a flawless performance, marking my introduction to Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s work. Inspired, I am keen to explore more of his films. As I am on a journey to learn Telugu, I’ve been advised that movie-watching is an excellent method to immerse oneself in the language. The stunts, true to the Telugu cinema’s reputation, were spectacular.
Of course, I fast-forwarded through the songs as I don’t have the patience to watch them. Overall, the movie was definitely worth the watch and thoroughly enjoyable.
