Life, it seems, simply moved forward, I’d say. I never really took a moment to bid farewell to any phase of my life, as each transition felt gradual. However, reflecting on this question now, I realize the years following graduation and venturing into the ‘serious’ world were perhaps the most enjoyable and carefree. Yet, here is where the wisdom of Sanskrit enlightens us again. There’s a saying that the wise do not lament the past or think of the future but focus on the present – गते शोको न कर्तव्यो भविष्यन् नैव चिन्तयेत्। वर्तमानेन कालेन वर्तयन्ति मनीषिणः।। (gate śoko na kartavyo bhaviṣyan naiva cintayet। vartamānena kālena vartayanti manīṣiṇaḥ।।)
This perspective highlights the importance of living in the moment and planning for what lies ahead, a timeless piece of wisdom that continues to guide us through the complexities of life.
