Does anyone truly recall their thoughts from when they were five? Frankly, as a child, my ambitions shifted daily, from dreaming of becoming a dancer, singer, surgeon, lawyer, to a teacher. So, it’s hard to say, but my youthful aspirations certainly didn’t predict my current profession. :) However, I can confidently say I wasn’t quite like the child Sarva-damana in the play Shakuntala, who, at the tender age of five, fearlessly played with lion cubs. When cautioned to release them lest the lioness attacks, he responded with a cheeky अहो बलीयः खलु भीतोस्मि।, translating to “Ah! I am mightily afraid,” boldly refusing to let the cubs go!
Youthful Dreams!
