अद्य महाभारते आदिपर्वणि किशचिच्छ्लोको व्यलक्षि यस्मात् परं मुखे’नैच्छिकस्मितमुत्पन्नम्। तत् पद्यमत्र अङ्कनीयमिति निर्णीयोल्लिख्यते।

अतो हास्यतरं लोके किञ्चिदन्यत्र विद्यते।
यत्र दुर्जन इत्याह दुर्जनः सज्जनं स्वयम् ॥

अन्वयः – अतः लोके किञ्चित् अन्यत्र हास्यतरं विद्यते यत्र दुर्जनः स्वयं सज्जनं दुर्जनः इति आह?

lol इति वक्तुकामास्मि। नन्वयं तथ्यम्। एतदुदाहरणं न केवल दुर्जनसज्जनविषये परन्तु सर्वेषे विषयेषु भवति ननु? मां विहायान्यः कोपि किमपि न जानातीति भावना, अहमेव सर्वेषु जन्तुषु श्रेष्ठतमः, मद्वत् कोपि आचरितुं न शक्नुयादिति चिन्तयन्तः अन्यान् प्रशंसितुमपि न शक्नुवन्ति जनाः। विद्या ददाति विनयमिति सूक्तिरस्ति परन्त्वियं सूक्तिस्था विद्या तत्त्वज्ञानं स्याद् यत् अर्वे न जानन्ति। सर्वे’ र्वाचीनाङगलशिक्षां पठित्वाहङ्कारेणव्यावहरति। इयमर्वाचीनाङ्गलशिक्षा विनयं न शिक्षयेत् कदापि।अविनयः यः अन्यान् स्वाचारेण वा वाचा वा बाधते तस्य विनाशकालः एवेति तु स्पष्टम्। महाभारतपठनेनेदृक् चिन्तनोद्भवति परं तदपि सम्यगेव ननु? अस्मात् नः चिन्तनं चाचारं च परिवर्तयितुं शक्नुमः। भगवान् सर्वदा सद्बुद्धिरेव सर्वास्ववस्थासु नः दद्यादिति प्रार्थये।

Translation – I recently came across a verse from the epic Mahabharata that instantly brought a smile to my face. The verse means, “There is nothing more laughable in this world than a wicked person calling a good person wicked.” This truth is evident in our daily lives, but it goes beyond mere name-calling, doesn’t it? Reflecting on this, I realize that everyone seems to believe they are superior to others, that no one can behave better or appreciate others’ good deeds. There’s an old saying that true education brings humility, but it seems this refers to understanding real truths rather than accumulating degrees. I know my post is a bit heavy today, but this verse really got me thinking. That’s why reading the Mahabharata is so important. It prompts deep reflection and inspires personal growth.
