Alright, so “Gudakesha” is one of the many illustrious names of Arjuna, meaning “Lord of Sleep.” Interestingly, I once came across a satirical verse referring to Kumbakarna as the “Lord of Sleep,” which piqued my curiosity. Delving deeper, I discovered that “Gudaka” actually refers to sleep, laziness, or insolence—those pesky distractions that can hinder a student’s dedication to practice and learning. Arjuna, however, triumphed over all these distractions, focusing solely on his training to become the legendary archer we still revere today. Isn’t that amazing? Now, I aspire to become a “Gudakesha,” not just to conquer sleep or laziness, but because it would mean having Lord Krishna right in front of me, guiding me towards success!
