I figured I’d write about Mykonos today before the memories of that stunning island start to fade. We took a ~3-hour ferry from Athens to Mykonos, and honestly, it felt like we were in a space shuttle straight out of the movie Passengers. We ventured out to the deck, but with the chilly breeze and heavy winds, it was a quick retreat back inside.
Mykonos is all about beaches. So, if you’re a beach lover, it’s your paradise—and even if you’re not, trust me, you’ll still love it. I’m more into lounging on the sand and dozing off rather than diving into the water, and that’s exactly what I did.
After checking into our hotel, we overheard someone speaking Hindi. Naturally, I was the only one in the group who could manage the language, so I jumped at the chance to strike up a conversation.
We spent the evening shopping and caught a breathtaking sunset. One thing that really stood out was the omnipresent evil eye symbols—on bags, in shops, everywhere! It seems like this little charm has made its mark across the island.
On our second day, we hit up Super Paradise Beach, where I tried vegan sushi for the first time—seriously, it was amazing! Food is essential, so that definitely deserves a mention.
A few cats wandered around us constantly, which, for me as a non-cat person, was less than ideal. But overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I was ready for the next island adventure.
