Clearly, my timing is impeccable: I just finished reading another verse on friendship, as if the cosmos itself has been curating my reading list. And lo and behold, Friendship Day happened last weekend! Synchronicity, anyone? Since the universe seems intent on keeping the party going, let’s not argue with destiny. Onward with the friendship festivities!

कराविव शरीरस्य नेत्रयोरिव पक्ष्मणि। अविचार्य प्रियं कुर्यात् तन्मित्रं मित्रमुच्यते।।

कुत्रेति न जाने परं पुरातनपत्रिकास्थं पद्यमिदम्। यथा हस्तः शरीरे विद्यमानपिपीलिकां वान्यबाधकानि वा सहजतया निष्कासयति, यथा पक्ष्माणि यथास्वभावं नेत्रे रक्षन्ति बाधकात्, तथा अविचार्य यः प्रियं कुर्यात् तत् मित्रमिति उच्यते। अत्र उत्तममित्रार्थं दत्तमुपमा मह्यं बहु अरोचत। मित्रदिनस्य शुभाशयाः सर्वेभ्यः।
