A Letter to My Centenarian Self – Oh my, what a thought! Is it somewhat melancholic to ponder whether I’ve outlived my contemporaries? Regardless, to address the notion, reaching such a venerable age means you’ve witnessed an incredible tapestry of life. Please, take a moment to applaud yourself – you’re truly remarkable. Continue to embrace your essence and relish every bit of existence!
On a lighter note, I’m reminded of a verse from “Mohamudgara”: पश्चाज्जीवति जरजरदेहे वार्तां कोपि न पृच्छति गेहे (paścājjīvati jarajaradehe vārtāṃ kopi na pṛcchati gehe) – suggesting that living too long without purpose may lead to being overlooked even within one’s own home. Yet, in the same breath, BhagavadpAda muses – कस्य सुखं न करोति विरागः (kasya sukhaṃ na karoti virāgaḥ) – rhetorically pondering the joy of renunciation.
Before I delve too deep into philosophical musings and darken the mood, let me conclude on this note: cherish each moment and don’t fret over the future. :) As Mahakavi Kalidasa says – भवितव्यानां द्वाराणि भवन्ति सर्वत्र – bhavitavyānāṃ dvārāṇi bhavanti sarvatra – Destiny’s doorways are omnipresent, signifying that fate unfolds in its own majestic course!
