Seasonal Symphony!

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite type of weather?

Coming from a tropical country where the temperature ranges from hot to hottest, I find spring and fall to be my favorite seasons. The balance of being neither too hot nor too cold, combined with just the right amount of rainfall, creates the perfect weather for me.

Within the rich tapestry of Sanskrit literature lies the esteemed work ṛtusaṃhāraḥ, credited to the legendary poet Mahakavi Kalidasa. This masterpiece exquisitely illustrates the allure of all six seasons with a sensuous flair. A notable passage beautifully captures the essence of spring: प्रफुल्लचूताङ्कुरतीक्ष्णसायो द्विरेफमालाविलसद्धनुर्गुणः। मनांसि वेद्धुम् सुरतप्रसङ्गिनां वसन्तयोद्धा समुपागतः प्रिये॥ (praphullacūtāṅkuratīkṣṇasāyo dvirephamālāvilasaddhanurguṇaḥ। manāṃsi veddhum surataprasaṅgināṃ vasantayoddhā samupāgatḥa priye॥) – “With the burgeoning tender mango leaflets as incisive arrows and honeybees as bowstrings, Spring, envisioned as a valiant warrior, elegantly steps forth to enrapture the hearts of lovers.” This imagery subtly references the belief that Manmatha, the God of Love, wields bows and arrows (made of flowers) to invoke affection. Nonetheless, I must confess, my fondness for spring is primarily due to its pleasant, moderate temperatures! 🙂
