Villivalam HH’s Śatamāna Mahotsava: A Century of Divine Legacy (१३)

For the past year, I’ve been digging through old articles, rediscovering little gems about our beloved HH, and sharing them here—my own small way of preserving and celebrating his legacy.

And here we are, just one month away from the grand Śatamāna celebrations! What makes this post even more special is that, although HH’s Āśrama Svīkāram took place on Aippasi Pūratṭādhi, the actual nakṣatra at the time of the Svīkāram was Uttiratṭādhi! What a beautiful coincidence! 🙏🌸

After spending a year writing about my Āchārya, I felt I would be a rather poor śiṣya if I didn’t attempt to write something for him—especially when padyaracanā happens to be one area in which I can claim at least a little competence! 😊

So here is my humble attempt: a padya for my Āchārya.

And when it came to choosing the metre, there really was no choice. It had to be the magnificent Śārdūlavikrīḍita—majestic, expansive, and, most importantly, the very metre in which HH’s taniyan itself is composed.

If I was going to attempt a verse for my Āchārya, what better chandas could I possibly choose? 🙏

This was my first composition for the occasion. I was happy and overjoyed that I composed in the tough ShArdUlavikrIdita meter and yet, something in me said,“Nope… not enough.”😊

After all, this isn’t just another celebration. This is Śatamāna — a once-in-a-lifetime milestone for my Āchārya. Surely, my offering had to be a little more unique, a little more special — something I hadn’t attempted before, and something that made even me go… “Yes, THIS is it!”

So… what did I do next? 😄

I’ll leave that right there.

Wait for my next post on Śatamāna day. There’s one more offering for my Āchārya — and this one has a little story of its own. 🙏

[By the divine anugraham of Villivalam Srimad Azhagiyasingar, and as part of SAM USA’s Śatamāna Celebrations, śiṣyas had the blessed opportunity to recite the entire Nālāyira Divya Prabandham. It was our great fortune and honor to recite Thiruchandaviruttam (July 15, 2026), Thiruvaimozhi (1,5,6 – August 2026)) , Moondram Thiruvandhadi (Aug 30, 2026) and Nanmugan Thirvandhadi (Sep 1, 2026). Here is the link to Thirupallandu and Nanmugan Thiruvandhadi. ]
